June 26th - A View from Above

Every now and again, it is good to step back and look at things from a different angle.
This week’s photo gives us one of those moments. From above, you can see the buildings, the trees, the playgrounds, the classrooms, the road, the sea in the distance — all the visible parts of Si Ri Panya. But of course, the real life of the school is found in the parts you cannot see from a drone.
It is in the Year 6 pupils trying out Secondary lessons for the first time.
It is in the final rehearsals, the sports days, the classroom projects and the small conversations that help children feel known.
It is in the teachers preparing carefully, the children growing in confidence, and the routines that quietly hold everything together.
As we come towards the end of the school year, this image feels like a reminder of what has been built here over time. Not just buildings, but a community. Not just a campus, but a place where children learn, belong and are cared for.
There is always more to do, and there are always new plans taking shape. But as we look ahead to September, we do so from strong foundations: an established school, a committed team and a community we are very proud of.
Imaginative Creations by Our Year 5 Potters!
Year 5 rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty this week as they explored the art of clay modelling.
Using techniques such as scoring, slipping, smoothing and joining, students carefully sculpted delicious-looking sweet treats, including cupcakes, doughnuts and slices of cake.
Their creativity and attention to detail were wonderful to see, with each student adding their own individual style and finishing touches.
The result was a collection of truly mouth-watering masterpieces — although sadly not quite suitable for snack time!
Things are happening in the Secondary Library
At a time when we often hear that young people do not want to read books, it is wonderful to see how much use our Secondary Library gets on a daily basis. Not only are many of our students devouring books, but a number of Secondary students have also been volunteering their time, ideas and resources to help keep the library growing for everyone to enjoy.

This week, our Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students have created a new KS3 Book Review Display in the Secondary Library. Each recommendation includes a short, hook-driven synopsis and an honest star rating from our student critics — helping others to find their next favourite book.
Also this week, Siam in Year 8 generously donated four books to the Secondary Library, having already read them and decided it was time for someone else to enjoy them.
This is a lovely gift to our library, and to students who have yet to discover The Babysitters Club and Raina Telgemeier series.
We are always looking for ideas for new books, so we will continue asking our students for suggestions as we expand our library. And if, like Siam, you have books at home that are ready to be passed on, we are always happy to give them a new home.
Year 1 & 2 Tee Ball Stars
Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a brilliant game of Tee Ball this week in PE.
Tee Ball is an introductory version of baseball, helping our younger students develop important skills such as batting, throwing, catching and base running — while also learning how to play as part of a team.
Year 2 won the game by 7 points, but the real highlight was seeing all players show such enthusiasm, excellent batting skills and lovely sportsmanship throughout the game.
Well done to Year 1 and Year 2!
Dream Big Recycling Project - Year 2
Year 2 have been working hard on their recycling project this week, stretching their imaginations, working collaboratively and quite literally bringing their ideas and dreams to life.
They are busy creating their dream playground!
As well as including some traditional playground favourites, the children have been putting their own ideas to work and adding a new twist. They have really enjoyed the freedom that comes with trying to make an idea come alive in real life — thinking, testing, adjusting and creating as they go.
What a great and artistic way to recycle and reuse once-upon-a-time products, giving them a new purpose, as well as imagining some very creative new play ideas.
Year 8 Food Court Writing Project
Our Year 8 students traded the classroom for the bustling stalls of Thongsala Food Court last week.
Students sampled a range of dishes from different countries and cultures, using the experience to prepare for writing their own food reviews back in the classroom.
As well as thinking carefully about taste, texture, presentation and atmosphere, they also considered the wider role of international food courts. They explored how food courts can act as meeting points for local residents and visitors, how pictures and menus help people communicate across language barriers, and how global fast-food chains sit alongside local, traditional food vendors.
It was a great example of writing being taken beyond the classroom — using real places, real experiences and real observations to help students develop their ideas.
Matilda's a Hit!
So many of you came to enjoy our production of Matilda this year, and we are incredibly proud of the hard work our students put in to make it such a fun experience for everyone.
Our Secondary students’ confidence and talent keeps growing every year, and they are already pestering us about what next year’s production will be! This was also the first time we have had Primary students taking part in a Secondary production, and they were amazing — a great experience for them, and a lovely way to bring different parts of our school community together to make a little bit of magic happen.
Please enjoy some of the professional shots of our main actors below. We are just putting the finishing touches to the video, and will also be taking some extra close-up photos of our junior cast members — watch this space!

Swingball swings into action!
We are extremely grateful to the Zohar family for their incredibly kind donation of three sets of Swingball for the Secondary playground.
The Zohar family will be leaving us at the end of this term, and they will all be very much missed. It is lovely, though, that we will have something to remember them by every day — and, as you can see, it is already definitely a hit with the students!
