June 19th - The Show Must Go On!
This week at Si Ri Panya has been filled with joyous celebrations, special moments and a few unexpected changes too.
Although we had to cancel one night of this year’s drama performance, the show continued as planned and was completely sold out!

On Thursday, Year 6 joined the Secondary Sports Day, and in the evening we enjoyed Matilda The Musical, a remarkable adaptation of Roald Dahl’s story about an extraordinary girl with unique abilities, who triumphs over the challenges of a difficult family and an even harsher school environment under a tyrannical teacher.
Our Primary school choir showcased their talent and did us proud, singing their way through scene after scene with our Secondary actors.
On Friday, Year 1, who also took part in the show, received a group Certificate of Excellence for debuting their outstanding collective performance... as a huge, delicious chocolate cake!
It was truly wonderful to witness the various year groups working together so effectively. We all hope it won’t be too long before our next performance! Stay tuned!
Precious Plastic Community Outreach
This week marked a special milestone for our Precious Plastic project as we welcomed students from Ban Tai Community School, a local government school on Koh Phangan, for our first external workshop.
Outreach has always been an important part of the vision for Precious Plastic. The aim is not only to support sustainability learning within Si Ri Panya, but also to share practical environmental education with the wider community.
During the workshop, students learnt how plastic waste can be sorted, shredded and transformed into something new. It was wonderful to see the project moving forwards and beginning to have a real community impact.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming students from Koh Phangan Suksa Secondary School for another workshop.
Year 6 Business Enterprise Project: Interview Day

As part of their Business Enterprise Project, our Year 6 students recently took part in a very real recruitment experience, applying and interviewing for different roles within their company teams.
Before the interviews, students reflected carefully on their own strengths, interests and the type of contribution they could make to their business. They then completed application forms and prepared to speak about themselves in a formal interview setting.
We were very pleased to welcome Frank from Bubbas Coffee Shop, who kindly gave his time to support the project. Frank interviewed students for a range of company positions, asking thoughtful questions about their skills, ideas, confidence and suitability for different roles.

For many students, this was a new experience — and an important one. They had to listen carefully, think on their feet, explain their ideas clearly and show why they would be a positive member of their team. These are exactly the kinds of skills that matter far beyond the classroom: communication, confidence, initiative, self-awareness and the ability to work well with others.
The interviews also helped students gain a better understanding of how businesses operate and the responsibilities that come with different positions. They began to see that a successful company needs more than just a good idea; it needs people who can take responsibility, solve problems, support one another and follow through.

A huge thank you to Frank for making the experience so meaningful and memorable for the children. Having a local business professional involved gave the project an authentic real-world connection, and the students gained a great deal from the
opportunity.
Most importantly, well done to our Year 6 students. They approached the process with enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism. We were very proud of their thoughtful answers, positive attitude and the confidence they showed throughout.
The next round of interviews will take place next week.
Year 9 Trip to Khanom and Donsak
Year 9 have been extremely busy this year, with their first formal exams on top of all the classroom and extracurricular activities that have been happening, so we were all looking forward to this trip as a chance to get away, relax, discover new places, and really bond as a group. And we did all of those things!
For those who don’t know the area, Khanom and Donsak have many beautiful places to visit and amazing things to witness. We were very lucky to see the incredibly rare pink dolphins, and watched a mother teaching her baby how to hunt fish just next to our boat, as well as touring the mangroves and geological marvels just down the coast from our wonderful little hotel in Nangkham Bay.
We also visited the Khao Wang Thong cave — not for everyone! — had our feet nibbled in a natural river fish spa, and had a LOT of fun swimming and swinging into the pools at the Samet Chun waterfall.
It wasn’t just the visits that made this special though. Just spending time together relaxing, playing games and socialising is precious, and eating together every night on the beach is always a treat. Who doesn’t enjoy good food with their feet in the sand?

A number of students in Year 9 have been at Si Ri Panya for many years now, and to see how they have all grown and matured into such a strong and supportive group of young adults is a joy, as is the way in which they make newer members of the class feel welcome and included.
We are looking forward to the next trip together, wherever that may be!
