Why EAL Matters
At Si Ri Panya, we want every student to feel confident, included and able to participate fully in classroom learning.
Our Secondary EAL provision combines supportive classroom teaching with targeted and intensive specialist support where needed. Support is matched to each student’s stage of English development and reviewed as their confidence, independence and language skills grow.
Our Three Levels of Support
Our EAL provision is organised across three levels:

Tier 1 Universal Support: supportive classroom provision for all students.

Tier 2 Targeted Support: free, short-term specialist support where an additional need is identified.

Tier 3 Intensive Support: paid, higher-intensity specialist support for students requiring provision beyond Tier 2.
Support is matched to each student’s needs and reviewed as their English, confidence and independence develop.
Assessment & Review
EAL needs may be identified during the admissions process or through assessment, classroom observation and teacher referral.
The EAL Lead and Head of Secondary review the available evidence and agree the most appropriate level of support. Parents are informed when Tier 2 or Tier 3 provision is recommended.
Our aim is always to help pupils develop the English, confidence and independence they need to participate successfully across the curriculum.
Tier 3 Support — THB 11,250 per term
Tier 3 provides more intensive specialist support for students who require provision beyond Tier 2.
It includes:

a specialist programme planned and reviewed by the EAL Lead;

clear language or literacy targets linked to classroom learning;

regular records of progress;
-
communication with parents; and
-
a formal review with recommendations for the following term.
Support is usually delivered as either:

small-group support, 3–4 sessions per week; or
-
one-to-one support, 1 session per week.
The balance of small-group, individual, in-class and outside-class support is planned flexibly according to the student’s needs and the curriculum being taught.
Tier 2 Transition Support — Free
Short-term targeted support for students with an identified EAL or literacy need.
This may include small-group work, brief targeted intervention, classroom strategies and monitoring by the EAL Lead and subject teacher.
Tier 2 support is reviewed after a half-term cycle so that provision can be adjusted as the student progresses.
