Below: Blue Team Leader Teacher Chloe watches on as her team tensely built up their points. Parents play a big part in the success of Sports Day by showing up to cheer on their children from the sidelines. Their encouragement fuels the students’ excitement, as they eagerly showcase their sports skills and talents to their parents and it makes for a great atmosphere to see families happily cheering on not only their own children, but the children of others.
“The battles that count aren’t the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself — the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us — that’s where it’s at.” — Jesse Owens

Objectives of Sports Day

To engage students in fundamental movement skills.
To promote the Olympic values of respect, excellence, and friendship.

Radomir Portnov Y6 Scores a hat-trick for Si Ri Panya!
On Wednesday both Primary and Secondary teamed togther to participate in Koh Phangan’s first ever Inter-schools Football Tournament. Ten teams participated from 4 different local schools on the island, boys and girls. That’s around 70 children in total. Four teams from Si Ri Panya played with students from Year 6, 7, 8 & 9.
One of our teams won 5-0, with Y6 student Radomir Portnov scoring a hat-trick, to win the gameone!
Well done to all of our football players from Primary & Secondary. Together, they’re proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

Bonjour, Comment ca va?
French students in Secondary have been putting their language skills to the test in a French Cafe setting, ordering and paying for their food and even complimenting the chef in French.
They did a great job, and now know that they can do the same out in the real world. Next stop, Paris!
Save the planet, one bottle cap at a time!

Don’t forget to save your bottle tops to continue to help us and help the environment . Drop them off daily at the gate, pass them to the member of staff on duty or give them to your child to put in our collection bin by the main entrance.
You can follow Precious Plastic Koh Phangan and see how we are making a difference and living by the motto “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Time to return library books
We are missing books from our library! We are asking Primary and Secondary parents to PLEASE look around your house and return any books to school as soon as possible.
We need your help to bring these books back to our library!
Thank you in advance for your help.
Ongoing Music Reminders
For upcoming performances and for our current weekly music classes with Teacher David, he asks could children practice playing the recorder at home. Recorders are cheaply available online and on the island. The school has limited numbers of the Yamaha models. There are also these colorful ones too. Teacher David says, families should feel free to choose a different one but make sure it has 8 holes and is a Key C German style recorder (easier for beginners).

Secondary School Enrichment options
****** Including PHILOSOPHY ******

Since January we have been trying out giving students a choice about which enrichment options they take part in each day, and this seems to have worked well. They choose their options at the beginning of term, and this becomes their regular enrichment session.
Here is a link to the list of current enrichment choices - Enrichment Activities Term 1 and term 2a
We will be offering some new enrichment choices after half term, students will be given the new options to choose from before half term.
