June 12th - Community in Action
As we move towards the end of term, this week’s newsletter offers a lovely snapshot of what makes a school community strong.
Some of this can be seen in the larger moments: students preparing for Sports Day, parents sharing thoughtful feedback, and classes heading out into the local community to learn from the people and places around them. But often, the most meaningful examples are found in the quieter moments: children listening carefully, older students welcoming someone new, classmates encouraging each other, and families finding practical ways to support one another and reduce waste.
These moments matter because a school is not only measured by its curriculum, facilities or events, but by the culture it builds each day. At Si Ri Panya, we want children to feel known, heard and valued. We want them to grow in confidence, kindness, independence and responsibility. We want them to understand that their voice matters, that their actions affect others, and that being part of a community means contributing to it.
This week, across Primary and Secondary, we have seen many examples of those values in action. They remind us that education is not just about what children achieve, but about who they are becoming.

Secondary Sports Day 2026
Thursday 18 June | 9:00am–2:30pm
We are looking forward to welcoming parents of students in Years 6–9 to our Secondary Sports Day on Thursday 18 June.
Students will take part in a range of activities throughout the day, including skills stations, 3v3 basketball tournaments and relay races. There will also be opportunities for parents to join in, support their child’s team and help score valuable house points.
Indigo Café will kindly be joining us on the day with a pop-up offering pizza, snacks, coffee and ice cream for sale.
We hope many of you will be able to come along, cheer on the students and enjoy what promises to be a fun, energetic and community-filled day.
Student Voice in Action
Following some recent changes and trials to the school menu, students from both Primary and Secondary were invited to share their preferences.
Pupils voted on the options they enjoyed most and also had the opportunity to leave comments and suggestions. This has given us useful feedback on what students enjoy, as well as where we can continue to improve.
It was lovely to see pupils taking part so thoughtfully and confidently. Small moments like this help children understand that their views matter and that they can play an active role in school life.

Parent & Friends Committee – Term 3 Feedback
Thank you to all parents who contributed to this term’s Parent & Friends Committee meeting. We are grateful for the thoughtful and constructive feedback shared across the year groups.
The Senior Leadership Team has reviewed all points raised and prepared a full Q&A summary, covering areas including uniform, water access, the Pet Corner, second-hand uniform, parent ambassadors, after-school activities and food provision.
Several actions are already underway, including the introduction of the new PE sports fabric, updates to the ASA programme, and opportunities for parent volunteers to support community initiatives.
You can read the complete summary here:
Thank you again for your time, openness and continued partnership. Your feedback helps us keep improving while ensuring decisions are carefully considered and clearly communicated.
Welcoming Students into the Secondary Community
Next week, our Year 6 students will begin an important part of their transition into Secondary school life. They will join Secondary Sports Day on Thursday 18 June and then spend a full day in Secondary on Friday 19 June, meeting older students, visiting different classes and gaining a clearer sense of what life in Secondary will feel like.
At Si Ri Panya, supporting younger students is not something that happens only through planned transition days. It is part of the culture we aim to build every day. Our core values encourage students to show care, responsibility and respect in the way they treat others, helping to create a school environment where children feel confident, welcomed and included.
This week, our Year 9 students gave a wonderful example of this when they welcomed a young visitor into their classroom. Throughout the visit, they were warm, patient and respectful. They took time to answer questions, encouraged her to join in, and helped create an atmosphere where she felt comfortable enough to challenge herself and take part.
Particular mention should go to Ryan, Barry, Shon, Leni and Tyren, who were excellent role models. They showed maturity, kindness and inclusivity, helping their visitor feel valued from the moment she arrived.
We are very proud of the way our students represented the Secondary community. Moments like this show our current core value of being Community-Minded in action, and remind us that education is not only about academic progress, but also about the people our students are becoming.
Learning About Buddhism at Wat Khao Tham
On Thursday, Year 4, Teacher Charles and several parent volunteers set off from school to visit Wat Khao Tham as part of our Religious Education programme.
This year, excursions have become an important part of our RE curriculum.
Students have already visited the Stream of Life Church, a local mosque and madrassa, and this week had the opportunity to learn more about Buddhism through a visit to a local temple.
The journey itself became part of the experience, as students walked step by step up the hill to reach the temple. Although the walk was challenging in the heat, the children showed resilience, determination and team spirit, encouraging one another along the way.
When they arrived, they were greeted by the temple’s resident dogs before being welcomed by Kru Mew and Kru Fon, who had arrived early to prepare the meditation hall and arrange gifts from Si Ri Panya.
The monks welcomed the students into the hall and guided them through some of the customs and practices of Buddhist temple life. Students sat respectfully, placed their hands together in a wai, listened carefully, and took part in a call-and-response prayer and chanting.
The visit gave students a meaningful opportunity to experience Buddhism beyond the classroom and to learn more about the values, traditions and practices followed by those on the Buddha’s path.
Year 1 Visit Stream of Life Church
On Monday, also as part of our Religious Education programme, Year 1 visited Stream of Life Church in Thong Sala.
They were warmly welcomed by Khai Mook, a children’s ministry volunteer, who spoke to our students about Christianity and helped them learn more about the Christian faith.
Students had a wonderful time learning about Christian values, many of which we also encourage at school, such as showing kindness to others and treating people how we would like to be treated ourselves.
At the end of the session, the children took part in a quiz to test their newly acquired knowledge. When asked, “Who is Jesus?”, one student politely put up their hand and answered, “The King of Germany!” — which was a very entertaining and confident guess.
Before returning to school, our lovely hosts kindly gave each student a gift box, which the children were delighted to receive.
As well as learning about Christianity, the visit gave Year 1 a chance to learn outside the classroom in a real-life setting, meet new people, and experience a place of worship in a different context to school.
