May 22nd - A Moment to Relax Before the Final Six Weeks

This week’s newsletter comes a day earlier than usual, as we break up for the half-term holiday.

We return on Monday 1st June for the final six-week stretch of the academic year — always a busy, important and exciting time in school.

We are extremely proud of all our students and everything they have achieved so far this year. We hope all families enjoy a restful half-term break and return ready for the final part of the year.

Although students are coming towards the end of their current school year, there is still plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead.

Under, Over, Behind and Beyond: Year 1 Practise Prepositions Outdoors

Children can practise prepositions in many different ways. These are words that help us describe position, direction, time and relationships between things.

In today’s grammar lesson, Year 1 took their learning outdoors and used chairs for a hands-on prepositions activity. The children demonstrated their understanding by moving under, over, behind and around the chairs, turning grammar into an active and memorable learning experience.

Fun, engaging and hands-on learning is always at the heart of school life at Si Ri Panya.

Year 1 Make Healthy Party Food

As part of their Cooking and Nutrition curriculum this week, Year 1 made healthy and colourful party food.

The children learned how to peel and cut fruit and vegetables into bite-sized chunks before arranging them into bright, attractive skewers. Teacher Olivia explained that these are just like the healthy party snacks children often enjoy at birthday parties back home in New Zealand.

Year 7 Humanities Lesson Unveils Secret Strategies of William the Conqueror and Genghis Khan

Year 7 have been looking at William the Conqueror and Genghis Khan, in Humanities, to compare them as leaders.

To help them understand one of the strategies William the Conqueror used, which was castle building, Year 7 made Motte and Bailey castles as a homework project.

Here is their wonderful work.

Year 6 Social Gathering as they Near the End of Primary School!

As the end of the academic year gets closer, our oldest Primary students got to have a special movie and pizza night on campus to celebrate the fact.

Year 6 had enormous fun on Wednesday evening and enjoyed pizza and the movie The Michelle vs The Machines.

Students brought snacks, cusions and beanbags and buckled down to share a nice evening together.

Their behavior was exemplary, reflecting well on Teacher Simon and Teacher Faye, who assisted in supervising the event.

As the year comes to a close, we'll have more chances to celebrate Year 6's completion of Primary school at their upcoming Graduation Ceremony and the following after party. Congratulations, Year 6!

Year 3 Play Shop with Year 10 for Maths

Armed with toy-Thai Baht, Year 3 tried out their adding and subtraction skills in a 'real life' scenario at our school cafe.

Year 9 volunteers hosted the cafe experience, 'selling' students drinks and snacks with the purpose of letting the younger students add up and subtract what they needed to pay and to check their change.

It was a heartwarming activity and Year 3 looked quite serious, as they concentrated and did mental arithmetic to make their calculations.

Learning can be purposeful inside and outside of the classroom and we like nothing more than showing our students that there are learning opportunities all around us.
