April 24th - Talent, History and Community

As we begin Term 3, we take a moment to reflect on two standout events from the end of last term — our Talent Show and Time Travellers event.

Both were powerful examples of our school community coming together to celebrate learning, creativity, and student confidence.

We are pleased to share a selection of photos and short films from each event below.

Talent Show 2026

From performances on stage to the energy in the audience, the Talent Show was a celebration of creativity, confidence, and community.

We are pleased to now share a 4 minute film of the highlights from the event.

We are also pleased to now share the full performance recordings from the event. 👉 Watch the Talent Show videos

Time Travellers 2026

Through performance and hands-on experiences, our Primary students brought history to life, deepening their understanding beyond the classroom.

We hope you enjoy revisiting these moments. They reflect the growing confidence, creativity, and sense of community across the school.

Say cheese!

INSET DAY - TERM 3, Aligning Our Teams Cross Campus

INSET Day is always a bit of a mystery — a day before students return, when teachers and school leaders come together. What exactly happens behind the scenes?

This term, we wanted to share a little more.

INSET takes place three times a year and gives us dedicated time to reflect, plan and align our priorities as a whole staff team.

We began the day with a session led by Lisa (Head of Primary), exploring the importance of strong relationships as the foundation for effective learning. It was a powerful reminder of the impact we have each day in shaping our students’ experiences.

Staff then worked collaboratively to reflect on our core values and how these will be brought to life in Term 3. The ideas generated have since been developed into a shared staff infographic and video, offering a genuine insight into what we collectively believe in for our students.

Jeanne (Head of Secondary) introduced our upcoming accreditation visit in June and led a session on adaptive teaching — ensuring all students are supported to achieve ambitious learning goals.

The afternoon focused on phase-based planning across Primary and Secondary, followed by a practical workshop on the use of AI to support teaching and learning.

So, the mystery of INSET Day is perhaps not so mysterious after all. It is a day of reflection, collaboration and preparation — ensuring our staff are aligned, prepared and focused on delivering high-quality learning for every student.

Inside INSET Day: aligning teams and preparing for high-quality learning.

The Power of Reading Aloud - Key Stage 1

This week, Year 1 and 2 pupils buddied up to develop their oracy skills through reading aloud — building confidence, vocabulary and a love of reading.

Set outdoors in the shade, pupils read with a partner, creating a calm and supportive environment to practise both speaking and listening.

Well done to our Key Stage 1 readers.

Snakes and Ladders Maths - Year 4

Our Year 4 students have been strengthening their multiplication and division skills through a game-based approach using Snakes and Ladders.

By integrating maths challenges into the game, pupils solved questions to move forward on the board — encouraging quick thinking and problem-solving in a supportive environment.

The familiar format helped build confidence and reduce anxiety, particularly for those developing fluency. It was especially pleasing to see pupils explaining their strategies and supporting one another when faced with more challenging questions.

A great example of how learning can be both meaningful and enjoyable.

Year 5 Vibrant Flower Sculpture Project: Spring is in the Air!

Year 5 students have been exploring a spring-themed art project, using foam modelling clay to design and sculpt their own vibrant flowers.

With bright colours and imaginative forms, each piece reflects growing artistic confidence and attention to detail, bringing a cheerful sense of spring into the classroom.

Meanwhile, outside, the weather has felt closer to a summer heatwave — a contrast that has not gone unnoticed by our young artists.

Psyched for Secondary Science Club!

This week, our Science Club explored a surprising way to inflate a balloon — without using our lungs.

Using a simple chemical reaction, students combined baking soda and vinegar in a bottle, with a balloon attached to the top.

When the two substances mixed, a gas was produced, inflating the balloon and demonstrating how gas pressure works in a clear and memorable way.

Fizz. Bubble. Inflate.

Model United Nations Club – Politics, Policies and Debate

This week, students took part in a Moderated Caucus in Model United Nations Club, led by Noam and Naia as Chairs.

A moderated caucus is a structured debate where delegates present and respond to ideas on a specific topic. Students created a Speaker’s List and delivered short speeches on early warning systems and education around natural disasters.

While there were some nerves, all delegates performed well. The Chairs were particularly impressed with Jonathan in his role as the delegate of Thailand.

A Value to Kick off the Final Term of the Year: RESPECTFUL

Each term, we focus on two core values across the school, encouraging students to actively demonstrate them in their daily interactions.

This term, Secondary launched with a student-led assembly exploring the value of respect. Pupils were asked two simple questions: What does respect look like? and What does it sound like?

Their ideas have been captured in the infographic below, offering a clear and thoughtful reflection on what respectful behaviour means in practice.

We hope this serves as a useful guide both in school and at home. We encourage families to reinforce these messages and support students in developing the habits and understanding behind respectful behaviour.
