Si Ri Panya News Highlights

Welcome to our Friday June 20th 2025 Newsletter (issue 15).

Random Acts of Kindness Challenge!

Can you remember the last time you received a complement? Or a time perhaps when you said hello and smiled at somebody you often see but don't usually talk to? How about recalling the last time you properly listened to a friend without interrupting? Or the last time you told someone some good news?

These are just some of the things we discussed in our Primary's assembly this week which was on the topic of happiness and how random acts of kindness--doing things that increase the wellbeing of all--can help all of us have more of it. More importantly, such positive acts also help us become community-minded, which is the whole school value we are building on this final half term of the academic year.

Students wishing to participate in the challenge have 25 small but meaningful challenges that you can sign-off on, alongside their teachers.

So, whether it's making a new friend or setting a good example or simply telling someone they did something well, the challenge is on to spread kindness across our campus toward each other next week! We encourage you and your children to join in outside of school, then we're being truly community minded.

Harry Rings, Lord of the Potters!

The whole school has been caught up in theatre magic this week with our performances of the Secondary school production, "Harry Rings, Lord of the Potters".

The full cast ready for our evening performance
The full cast ready for our evening performance

The whole of Primary came to watch during the day on Tuesday, and judging by the giggles and shouts they were totally taken up with the magic of the theatre!

The evening performance had its own magic, with parents and friends filling the new Si Ri Panya Drama Studio to enjoy our production. The laughs were loud, the applause even louder, and everyone came out with smiles at the end! The play was chosen, developed and put on stage by our students, who also created the sets, the props, the playlist and the choice of costumes and makeuo. In the end, it has been 100% the students' production, and we are all proud of what we have achieved together - a great example of community-mindedness in action!

Enjoying the exciting finale!
Enjoying the exciting finale!

This production is the school's first major play using our fantastic new stage, sound and lighting rigs. We are looking forward to making full use of these facilities for Performing Arts lessons, school productions and other extra-curricular activities in the future, and we have plans to offer more specialised training for Year 10 and 11 students who want to pursue a creative career - or for those who just enjoy the world of the stage!

Assessment Week is Coming

Across the school, students are preparing, or in some cases have even started, their final assessments of the year.

There are many different kinds of assessment, including projects and exams. Our older students are getting used to doing exams to test their knowledge and skills, and have been learning and using different methods to revise; using their books, flashcards and technology, for example.

They have also found that they can revise on their own, but some of them also learn well in groups - helping each other to learn is an important part of being community-minded, and it can be fun too!

Education isn't just about classrooms ...

We believe that education isn't just about what happens in the classroom, but also about how this links to our understanding of the world and the societies we live in.

Observing and taking notes
Observing and taking notes

Year 9 recently undertook some fieldwork linked to their recent Science lessons, looking at the human impact on ecosystems at Si Si Panya.

Different groups were researching deforestation, habitat loss and pollution by conducting sampling or data collection methods, including using quadrants or observation across time periods to measure biodiversity, noise pollution and construction run off over multiple different areas of our school.

One day some of these young people may become professionals who need to carry out surveys; having a chance to try this out in a safe environment and developing those keys skills (as well as enjoying the sunshine and fresh air) is what education is all about.
