Look Up and Stargaze! Primary Key Stage 1 Planetarium Visit

This week Year 1 and 2 classes visited Koh Phangan Suksa Secondary School to stargaze inside the local school's very own planetarium. A planetarium is a dome-like structure, in this case, a mobile inflateable tent, inside which images of the nights sky are projected onto the ceiling while a mesmerising story is told, as students lie back and look up for a full immersion experience!
This visit enhanced student learning on the topic of space and planetary systems, dipping student learning into the wonders of the real world.
Students explored the wonders of the night sky, learned about constellations, planets, and the solar system, all while experiencing the planetarium’s unique space.
As well as deepening our knowledge of astronomy in a way easy for our younger pupils to absorb and understand, we hope the trip has left them curious for more and fed their imaginations.
By the time you read this newsletter, we will have had what's known as a Strawberry Moon! Did you see it on Wednesday? We encourage you, along with your children, to continue to look up and see for yourself the marvels of the universe.

Year 4 Snorkelling Trip with CORESea to Haad Khom
On Wednesday, Teacher Matt and Year 4 went on an educational snorkelling trip to Haad Khom with CORESea, a Koh Phangan based marine research and education organisation.
Students had a whale of a time, pun intended, working in buddy-pairs, which required them to carefully look after each other and communicate confidently and clearly while in the water.
Working in pairs mimics the real dynamics between snorkellers and divers, who monitor each other closely, often in changeable weather conditions when out at sea, using special equipment to float (or descend into deep water) and breathe.
The day kicked off with an educational presentation by the valuable marine organisation where students learned about marine conservation and habitats, and finished with a game of underwater Bingo as they snorkelled!
We thought that this was a great way of learning experience how to observe and identify different marine species and the wonders of the fragile habitats they live in.
Well done to Year 4 for showing impeccable behaviour and representing the school excellently during this trip. Thanks also to parents who helped make the trip safer in numbers and to Teacher Jeanne and Teacher Matt for their snorkelling and diving expertise. We're lucky to have such a knowledgeable team! Enjoy the gallery.

Presentation Skills
Being able to present ideas to others is an important life skill, and is something that we encourage our students to practise as much as they can in front of their peers. Here we see year 7 students in their PSHE lesson presenting their research on the Noble Prize system - every student took part, and they showed how well they have developed in being able to listen and learn from each other.
Bringing Our School Values to Life
Our six core values have always been central to life at Si Ri Panya—shaping our learning, our relationships, and our community spirit. These values were chosen together by staff and students to reflect the kind of people we strive to be.
This year, we’ve given our values a fresh new look by introducing custom-designed animal characters to represent each one. These animals now feature on our website and will soon appear on the secondary staircase and primary playground wall, printed at 80cm wide—offering daily reminders of who we are and what we stand for.
We’ve also tailored how each value is expressed, with slightly different messages for Primary and Secondary students—ensuring the language reflects the maturity and understanding of different age groups.
