May 1st - Building Momentum in Term 3
This week has been hot once again, making us grateful for the shade in the school grounds and reminding us to stay hydrated and take care of ourselves.
Across the school, students have settled quickly back into routines, interacting positively and contributing to a calm, purposeful atmosphere.
In the coming weeks, learning will extend beyond the classroom, with selected year groups taking part in visits to places of worship and off-site workshops, designed to deepen understanding and develop real-world awareness.
In Primary, a series of Curriculum Days are approaching, beginning with a Science focus. Next Wednesday, students will take part in a structured programme of experiments across the campus — from chemical reactions to investigations into static electricity and the surface of the moon — designed to build curiosity alongside scientific thinking.
Even in the heat, students are showing increasing independence and commitment to their learning, an important indicator as they prepare for the transition to the next academic year.
Term 3 is a crucial period. Continued progress now depends not only on what happens in school, but on regular check-ins at home, encouragement, and an awareness of how your child feels about their learning.
As always, we are available to offer guidance and support whenever needed.
The Beautiful Symmetry of Year 2 Maths
In Year 2, we’ve been folding the world in half—discovering how both sides of a shape, and even a smile, can be the same.
Through creating symmetrical shapes and artwork, pupils are developing an early understanding of pattern, structure, and balance—key foundations in mathematics.
While simple on the surface, this learning runs deeper. As pupils recognise matching halves, they begin to build spatial awareness and learn to visualise and manipulate shapes—skills that will support them in later mathematical thinking.
Symmetry also helps pupils make sense of the world around them. From faces to buildings to nature, they start to notice patterns and connections everywhere.
At this stage, learning is most powerful when it is hands-on. Folding, drawing, and exploring allows pupils to move beyond abstract ideas and truly understand what they are seeing.
The aim is not just to learn about symmetry, but to begin training the mind to notice patterns, think logically, and make connections.
We invite you to enjoy the photo gallery below, capturing our Year 2 pupils fully engaged in this process.
Ambassadors of the Si Ri Panya Environment - Year 1
In today's assembly, Year 2 read part of a story to the whole of Primary as part of our drive to get students reading out loud (oracy). As well as that, we revisited, as we always do when we get together as a school community on Friday mornings, our school values and what makes us great and stand out.
Head of Primary, Lisa, showed the students a mysterious bag of strange items: a cup, a single flip flop, a paper airplane, a snack wrapper, which had been found by a friend of hers, as they had walked-in a single line-across our school playing field!
Students couldn't believe that this was possible and pledged to help improve the tidiness of our lush environment.
Sometimes we are all forgetful, but the more aware we are of what we are doing and the more responsibility we share for our school environment, the more we will be able to keep our beautiful green campus perfectly clean. Remember too, it is also home to birds and insects as part of a larger ecosystem.
At breaktime five abassadors of our green campus turned up to the Head of Primary's office with a giant bag of trash, unannounced.
Each of them proudly showed off what they had found and earned a sticker reward for taking it upon themselves to keep our school tidy.
These studnets set a wonderful example to other students and set a clear message across school about the type of clean green community they want to be a part of.

Well done to Year 1 boys for being trash heroes and cleaning up our Si Ri Panya green environment. They really are the best of the best!
Precious Plastic – Turning Waste into Learning
Following the success of recent workshops with Secondary students and staff, it was Year 6’s turn this week to experience the Precious Plastic project.
Pupils were fully involved in every stage of the process—observing, preparing, and transforming plastic waste into something both useful and meaningful.
This is more than a workshop. It is an opportunity for pupils to understand sustainability in a practical way, seeing first-hand how materials can be repurposed rather than discarded.
The level of focus and pride in their work was clear, particularly as they saw the final results of their efforts.

Preparing Students for Independence - Cooking For All
Each year, all Secondary pupils take part in a term of food and cooking—an important part of developing independence and practical life skills.
It is always rewarding to see how quickly pupils grow in confidence, from preparing ingredients to cooking and working responsibly in a shared space.

This week, Year 7 and 8 pupils learned how to make vegetable fritters—a simple, adaptable recipe that can be adjusted to suit different tastes and ingredients.
Alongside the cooking itself, pupils are learning essential skills: planning, organisation, and even the discipline of cleaning up afterwards.
These experiences play a valuable role in preparing pupils for life beyond the classroom.
